Wow! Talk about spinning. This is such a thrilling rollercoaster ride with a plethora of emotions to sort through as you follow along to see what happens next. I have to say this is one interesting tale. One smooth flowing, action packed, page turning bombshell that grabs your attention and holds steady from start to finish. The characters are realistic, well developed and believable with just enough flaws to relate. Their personalities are unique with qualities and traits that balance out perfectly. The scenes are so graphic and descriptive it paints a fantastic backdrop that really makes the storyline pop. The twists and turns, ups and downs, along with a few glitches, bumps and bruises bring this bad boy roaring to life brilliantly. Throw in all the drama and suspense along with uncertainty and you have yourself one amazing plot. Abby did a remarkable job bringing this read together beautifully. Two of my favorite authors, Abby Ayles and Fanny Finch, have teamed to make a great book containing two great previously published stories about two sisters.The Lady's Gamble tells the story of the Hartfield family that lost almost everything when the father foolishly wagers their property in a card game. But the youngest Hartfield daughter determines to learn to play cards and to read the other players well enough to win back what was lost with the help of a nobleman who starts off thinking he is interested in her oldest sister. No surprise, romance ensues.The second book, Engaging Love, is about the an older Hartfield sister who must marry quickly because of the family fortune was lost in that card game. She meets a nobleman who must also marry quickly to have access to his fortune. They agree to marry each other for their mutual convenience. Dealing with unexpected personal characteristics is the problem. No surprise, romance ensues here too.
This is a set of two previously published books, about 2 sisters who take matters into their own hands when their father looses everything, all his money, and the family home to a ruthless gambler. One sister decides to not only learn how to gamble, but to win at all costs. The other sister sister decides to marry the highest titled man so others will have to look up to her. Will they achieve their goals? Will they find love in addition to helping their family?Both stories are good, and worth reading several times. Personally, I enjoyed Regina Hartfield's story in "The Lady’s Gamble" best.
I previously read A Ladies Gamble and Engaging Love when they came out as a single book and thoroughly enjoyed both. I liked that she put these two books as a set. It's better to read A Lady's Gamble first to appreciate the characters in the second book better. I don't like to give away spoilers so I will say that I highly recommended this book and it's well worth the price.
A new collection all set at Haskett Manor In the first story Antoinette must choose who will be her husband. The second story is about two people who have been hurt. Lucy has some difficult decisions to make and will Lord Jones be part of her future. The third book is about Kitty a young woman who has been ill with rheumatism will she find someone to accept her? All were beautiful stories heartwarming and a true pleasure to read. There are wonderful characters in each story and great twists it is a lovely collection to have.
Regina is one of 5 sisters and can't believe what here Father has done. He bet her on a poker hand and lost. She comes up with a plan that is so unimaginable that you will have to read the story to believe it! Natalie is a flirt and ends with what she doesn't want. Can she do anything to change this? Lord John Ridgeclef had to find a wife in 30 days otherwise is Father is going to take away his inheritance. So what will Natalie and John do? This is a great series and you won't be disappointed.
