The only regret I have with this purchase is that I didn't get it sooner. I bought the book about halfway through my second semester of Econ. It really raised my grade up by a lot. We received the book Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul on Love and Friendship by Kimberly Kirberger. The Chicken Soup books are well read books with good advice. This book will make a great addition to our Youth section in our library. Thank you so much.

The Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul series is a wonderful series written by teens for teens and this book is a spin-off, if you like, of that very successful, popular series.However, I found the stories and range of topics to be not quite as good as those found in the other teenage Chicken Soup books. The Friendship section had some beautiful stories in it as is to be expected from this series but I found some of the stores in other sections such as Growing Up to be cliched and boring. While I found it hard to put the other books down, this one was quite easy to put away.If you are looking for a really good Chicken Soup book I would recommend Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul II or even the first or third books rather than this one. Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul - Love & Friendship lacks the same edge and originality as the other books.

I love all the Chicken Soup books, especially the ones for teens. I have read all the teen ones and about 5 of the other ones. This one is my favorite so far. I wonder so much about how other girls feel about guys and relationships for real and I don't think anything has ever explained it better than some of the stories in this book. I have a boyfriend and I think we are going to break up soon and I was so scared. It really helps sto see other girls are ok and also guys really do have feelings.The friendship part was just as good, even though I didn't think it would be. It made me think about my friends and it made me want to treat them better. I guess I have been lucky becasue I am still friends with the same girls I was friends with in Jr high. Everyone should read this book. I loved it!!

Many people have these same problems in their life too, so they should read it too. Teens will learn many things between their loves, and their friendships. Teens show how they feel about their closest relationships. Teens are interviewed in their lives and some of their stories are in this book. In this book it tells the names of the person who is in the relationship, and their age. There are many stories in this book. I love about everything from this book. I have almost the same relationships and feelings as the people that are in this book are telling. I feel the same way as they do. The first quote I like is under the chapter Saying Good Bye. A teen is experiencing a moment when her best friend is leaving, are moving. The quote is, "Today I said good-bye to my best friend- the one person I have been able to count on for so many years." That is extremely sad. I had that experience once, when my best friend left me, but in this book it tells how she solves her problem. The Second quote is, Just One Look, That's All It Took." That was an amazing quote. That means love at first sight. The girl saw a boy and was in love because she thought he was cute. I had a moment like tat. I saw a guy that I thought was really cute, and I was in love at the first sight. I didn't really have a favorite part of the book. I liked the entire book. All the stories in this book are fantastic. I have almost the same problems. I love this book because it tells me that I am not the only one that is sad. I don't hate this book one bit. I want other people to read this because; they probably have the same problems too.

This book is a very good and interesting book to read. It has a lot of personal stories in it that help other people who are going through the same problems understand that they are not alone. The book covered many different topics and I think that's what made it so good. The different topics were; Falling In Love, Breaking Up, Friendship, Tough Times, Family And Love, Acts Of Kindness, and Growing Up. All these things are very critical to a teenager and this is what they all go through. I think the best topics in this book were Breaking Up and Family And Love. Those two were the most interesting to me. Also Friendship was very good because it shows you what other people have gone through with friendships and that one-day you will meet a stranger and they might turn out to be your best friend you ever had. Breaking Up was good because the stories were emotional. It seemed as if the short stories were happening to you and you experienced them as you read them. Also Family And Love was good. That showed you that you never know what you love till it is someday gone or something happens. This anthology is great to read. Every short story has an important meaning to it. You will learn a lot from it. It isn't boring either. I don't like reading but this book was something I couldn't put down. Every story was interesting in its own way. I hope if you ever get the chance to read it that you do because you won't regret it.

In my opinion, this book is the most important work ever written on the topic of so-called 'UFOs'.With millions of UFO sightings per year, apparently going back to before recorded history,the fact that not even one such 'extra-terrestrial' has ever landed on the White House lawn,shows that the ETH (Extraterrestrial Hypothesis) is ridiculous on it's face.That there is a common source between so-called UFO sightings and 'supernatural'phenomenon can scarcely be denied, with a thorough examination, and few peoplehave done this, and perhaps none with the neutrality and thoroughness of Dr. Vallee.That humans continued to be bamboozled by low-grade 'trickster phenomenon'in the 21st century is a sad testament to the rigid thinking inherent in boththe scientific and spiritual/religious communities. We are kept at each other'sthroats both intellectually and via warfare, while the 'trickster phenomenon' andtheir deluded pawns continue to deeply influence society and drive us to our doom..in ever accelerating control loops of history, from which we cannot escape.This is a must read volume.

I have been reading J Vallee UAP writings in sequence and must confess that with each new book he becomes even more thought provoking. In this book Valle addresses the incidents and experiences of UFO contactees and the messages conveyed in some of the key contacts. His scientific approach is evident throughout and though he does not consider his views conclusive he offers several hypothesis that builds his theory of UAP as a control system.Without spoiling the insights articulated in this book I will offer this; The author offers a theory about "time" that I found astounding.Definitely a book that must be read for those that desire a comprehensive and will rounded view of the UAP.

As with all his books on Amazon, well written and researched. He was the model for the French scientist in "Close Encounters" so can speak with authority on the subject. He is the chief proponent of the ultraterrestrial thesis though he doesn't go as far as to claim that title. The source of the phenomena has been with us for thousands of years. The book was written in the 70's but is still in print. He details UFO cult activity and its influences on the culture.

This book is a good summary of Jacques Vallee's unconventional and thought-provoking (often disturbing) theories of the UFO Phenomenon. Namely, that a strong, measurable, and perhaps intended sociological reaction can be observed in response to said phenomena; that the phenomena may behave as an algorithm and are thus difficult to understand in linear terms; that these phenomena have manifested in various ways throughout history and their true nature is still veiled from us.The chapters appear more as a collection of essays at first glance and the book ends somewhat abruptly. Jacques Vallee is a good writer and has written a novel or two in the past, but this book is not written as a novel nor does it flow as one. You the reader must follow the theories to a deeper, darker place in your mind to get the most from this work. A simple quick read will leave a lot information out.The ideas presented here are multi-tiered and valuable, with great depth. It is an excellent discussion piece for a philosophical or academic debate. Messengers of Deception is a unique contribution to the literature of not just UFO's, but also of Sociology. The book is somewhat short on eye-witness accounts and 'alien' encounters. If you prefer to read on those, may I recommend Dr. Vallee's fine book 'Confrontations' which is rich with anecdotal evidence...I had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Vallee once and I consider him a treasure to this field of paranormal research. His books are a must have for anyone with a serious inclination towards the UFO subject. Messengers of Deception is a book which stands apart in many ways like the writer himself.

This is an excellent book about the "contactees" and their alleged experience with "aliens". Vallee manages to do what the scientific community and the government fail to - accurately isolate and explain the consistent themes and occurrences surrounding contactees and UFO sightings and develop a theory that actually holds water. To quote the epilogue (without spoiling anything for you of course) Vallee's theory on UFOs "has some advantages (to the traditional views), it does not challenge the reports of thousands of credible witnesses, nor does it contradict our present laws of physics. Moreover, it suggests a plan behind the phenomena and indicates that UFO sightings could have serious social consequences." It's got a conspiracy theory ring to it, but with all the literature available today about the 4th Reich, Illuminati, etc this theory fits right in as a very real possibility.

I avoided buying this book in the hope that the author's later works would cover the material, but I eventually decided to buy it. I'm really glad I did. It forms the foundation of the later works, and I believe that it's essential reading for practicing or aspiring System/s Architects. It was a challenging read for me because of the content bias towards space and electronic systems (my experience lies in corporate, software and social systems) but I also appreciated the insight into these other system domains.

I even didn't believe that this great piece of art will get in my hands and I'll be able to read it.Very philosophic book and it will be interested for those who wants to see where from started the long way of software architecting.

One of the best System Architecting books out there. Required by USC for their MSSARE degree in SAE549 course. It has a ton of information and would guide you to become a good Systems Architect/Engineer.

Rechtin is no stranger to architecting complex systems. Most of his insights are drawn from his 40 years experience as the chief architect for NASA during the moon landings and a long list of defence and civil positions.The book covers a wide range of topics germane to architects as a field and profession: boundaries and interfaces, information systems, the challenge of ultra-quality, economics and public policy, AI, assessing architectures are some of the sections.The style of the book is alomost memoir-like. He groups his experiences into three main headings with many sub headings. Each item within the sub headings rate 2-4 pages with some heuristic attached. It's a fascinating read because it's a rare glimpse into the mind of someone whose job it was to "keep the entire system in his head". He basically had to answer and implement a system that solved the question, "How do we get three men to the moon and back before the end of the decade?".The two most useful aspects are his in depth treatment on the economics and politics of architecting and a multitude(over 100) heuristics. For instance,"the greatest **leverage** in system architecting is at the interfaces" "complex systems will develop and evolve within and overall architecture much more rapidly if there are stable intermediate forms than if there are not" "profit is a matter of definition and cost is not an absolute" "there is no such thing as immaculate communication"and my favourite"the time in days, T, to obtain an approval requiring N signatures is approximately T = 2^(N-2).The book has been in print for some time and many of the examples regarding designing jet propulsion systems, fail-safe computers for the moon or road networks may not be easily related to accounting, manufacturing or web systems. But as a blueprint for a profession that is growing in importance, it lays an anectdotal foundation that will be hard to match.

Systems architecting is the use of architecting tools and techniques (e.g.,analysis, insights, heuristics metaphors, practice, ethics and modus operandi) to systems (collections of different things which collectively produce results not producible by the components, alone. This is the first and most fundamental of three books on the subject. The second extends architecting to software, progressive modeling, politics, and architects in industry. The third uses the art of systems architecting in structuring organizations.

This is where it all began. The stead slow slide into cost overruns and delays. Although there are many good insights in the book the practice that has evolved out of this work is less than positive.

The Magitech Chronicles is one of my favorite space fantasy series. Chris is continually outdoing himself with the creativity and worldbuilding and scope of events that he builds into each installment. If you've ever wondered what it would look like to have dragons and magic mixed with spaceships and modern technology, this is the series for you. Having the first four books all together in one omnibus is a fantastic value.

I think this is the first time I've read anything with Dragons and Magic and Outer space and wars...though I might be mistaken...story moves along pretty quickly, but keeping track of all the spells, and 'spellrifles' and whatnot is a bit taxing.I finished the first of the four stories in the set...I'll keep going to the end.....

The narrator was very good. He has some really great voices, good tempo and vocal inflections, and I love it when narrators vocalize the small sounds like laughter and whistles.All four stories included in this set are very good and skillfully written.The characters are very individual with their own quirks, and I love that the author didn't bombard me with pages of Backstory right at the start.I have four major detractors that kept this from being a 5-star read (the first one is vastly more pronounced in book one, though it continues to be present in later books).1, significant portions of the dialogue are simply atrocious. Listening to it, I couldn't help thinking, really? Are you serious? Especially with the way the Dragons speak.2, length. Each book is only about 8 to 8-1/2 hours in length. Which is fine in heroic fantasy or other fantasies with relatively low stakes or scope. But with a story this expansive, I would have liked to see much longer books to really do justice to the stories. As they are written, many parts feel skipped over or rushed. Had the author spent twice the time (or even half again), the stories would have felt a lot more complete and far more immersive.3, I just cannot suspend disbelief when I'm expected to swallow that a dragon can be a one-hit-wonder. I don't care how powerful the magic is, nothing short of a god (or a Dragonlance) should be able to kill a dragon in a single attack.And 4, unless it's litRPG (which this book is not), then I just can't take you seriously when characters are referring to spells by level (as in, "normally he couldn't cast a third level spell"). Now, I admit that in the military the relative power of a weapon very well may be denoted by a "level" but in this context I just can't take it seriously.All that said, I really enjoyed these books. I love the way the characters develop and the way the characterization and backstories are slowly revealed over the course of the books.I'm definitely going to be picking up further books in this series. Hopefully book six will be released in audio soon.

Awesome story, a few obvious logic holes, be prepared to be hit in the face with many blatant plot devices.Interesting and fairly unique setting, main characters are well developed and interesting / relatable. Most other characters tend to be 1/2d in nature.Minor gripe for (current price), $0.99, but a VERY noticable number of spelling and grammar errors...

This series is just one dark mess.The books are filled with inconsistencies. In book 2 there is a chapter that seems to have been taken out of the timeline of the previous and following chapters. In another storyline Aran is trained, then goes on to fight battles and then is said to be lacking fitness when he goes to a dojo. Aran can fly against dragons and not get zapped, but can’t outfly a fighter piloted by a mortal. The Voria character is a total mess. Is she a leader or not? The other members of the crew are equally messed up.The author seems to have absolutely no military experience. And just seems to base his military writing on what he picked up on some b-rate TV show. How is a “Private” an officer?Everyone in this series seems to be enslaved in one way or another. And they all seem to be jumping for joy because of it. Seems like slavery is brought to a whole new level in this series. And at times, the author seems to try and justify it.The “gods” in this series seem to be nothing more that over powered magic users, whose influence does not even cover the galaxy. Yet the author keeps inserting “the universe” into descriptions of how powerful they are supposed to be.There are times when I’ve felt that this series was actually written by a number of different people who don’t really communicate well with each other and the group lacks an overall plan. Sort of like a D&D group with a GM, where all of them are writing a story and Penny just wants to kill her character so that she can go get a drink.

Love this series! Can't wait for the next book! It's easy to read, humorous, and has tech, magic, gods....I mean what else does a total geek want?!It's also very easy to read. I'm a relatively fast reader but was surprised how fast I got through the first 5 books. I find I actually appreciate it as I have limited time to read anymore. I used to binge read Tolkien every year for a decade and was happy if I could read all his works in a week...(glad I grew out of that haha).I'm anctiously waiting for the next book. This series is one I could see myself rereading.

Love these books! I've been reading since the first book came out and I've had a great time! Engaging characters with some interesting development arcs, fun magic/tech combos, SPACE DRAGONS!! What more could you ask for? Can't recommend enough!

The story is enjoyable and fun, and the writing is casual and approachable. This is also one of the few books that does multiple POVs well. He changes the eyes through which you see their world from chapter to chapter. Great mixture of magic and technology and deities. Done excellently, and makes you want to keep coming back again and again.
